Holiday House Cairngorm National Park

Accommodation

As they say, a picture's worth a thousand words, so we've provided plenty of interior shots of the property for you to peruse. However, for those that like to a bit more detail on their accommodation we provide the following short summary describing the house ...

The following floor-plan gives you a very quick feel for the layout.

House Floor Plan

The house is an "upside-down" design - borrowed from those clever Nordic folks who like to have the main living area at the top of their houses on the basis that heat rises.

You access the hall from the main door immediately beside the car parking area to the front of the house. There's plenty parking space right by the front door so off-loading luggage and groceries is as easy as it can be.

Lounge/Dining Area
The lounge / dining area are the centre piece of the house and played a big part in selling us the house when we first saw it. Large patio windows on both sides afford an uninterrupted view to the hills which you can enjoy from the comfort of the sofas or the dining chairs and from the balcony outside which wraps round two sides of the house. The large amount of window area also means the room is very bright and cheery no matter what the season or the weather. The Norwegian log burner stove finishes the room off perfectly and allows for idyllic nights cosied up by the fire.

Kitchen
The fitted kitchen is fully kitted out to enable even the most adventurous of holiday chefs satisfy their culinary ambitions, with: hob, double oven, fridge / freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and washing machine and enough crockery, saucepans etc for at least 8 diners. There's also a tumble dryer outside in the shed.

Bedrooms
All the bedrooms have ample storage and hanging space – even Imelda Marcos would find enough room to store her shoes and clothes.

Bathrooms
With one bathroom and two shower-rooms there shouldn't be any need for traffic control and queuing systems - even at peak hours in the morning.

Outdoors
Outside there's acres of space for kids to play and the younger ones will no doubt love the resident red squirrels and battalions of rabbits who view our garden as an extension of the forest – which lies immediately across the road from the front of the house. For the adults - there's ample (solid wood) patio furniture plus BBQ for as much outdoor entertaining as you could wish for.  I can highly recommend a cafetiere of coffee on the balcony table-for-two with the morning paper to set your day off perfectly.

Rooms
The rooms are all decorated to a high standard and have all the finishing touches you'd expect of higher quality self catering accommodation:

  • Surround sound TV and DVD player; with facility to plug in your own MP3 player and a selection of DVDs for you to choose from
  • Generous supply of books, puzzles and games (for pretty much all ages)
  • PS1 console and standalone TV with a range of games in the downstairs box room – so adults don't need to suffer video game noise pollution upstairs
  • Liberal use of paintings, prints and mirrors throughout the house to avoid that “cell block” look that some holiday houses seem to go in for
  • Comfy, modern leather sofas in the lounge and a particularly relaxing recliner over by the window – for those who need that little extra help to completely chill out!
